7 Trunk Mountain Maple Acer Bonsai Tree
Mountain Maple Bonsai Tree:
The above youtube video shows a beautiful 7 trunk mountain maple in summer. Five of the trunks are very mature, and 2 of the trunks are still in development. This tree has been pinched to one set of leaves and is doing very well. This is one of the trees that we have up for sale at the time of writing this.
This Acer has been planted in a Walsall ceramics bonsai pot and it really compliments the tree nicely. Multiple trunk maples are very sought after trees and the more trunks to the tree the higher the price tag in general so long as the overall appearance is high quality as well.
Looking after Acer bonsai is not hard at all when you understand a few care techniques. Acer are thirsty plants and will benefit from a daily watering during the summer months. If your Acer is planted in a shallow pot then you may need to water twice per day. Acer bonsai trees are sun loving trees and can be positioned in full sun. However when the temperature climbs in the afternoon at the height of summer, you will want to position your tree in a shady position to avoid leaf scorch.
Repotting acer bonsai trees is fairly straight forward and the root systems deal well with heavy pruning. This can not be said for all bonsai trees which is why Acer bonsai trees are so nice to look after. The roots of an Acer are well suited to being planted in a shallow bonsai pot.
We feed our bonsai trees every few weeks during the growing season and we feed our Acer bonsai a combination of seaweed fertilizer and Biogold blocks that go in the soil. It is important to note that if you are trying to develop a tree then you will want to feed it more than you would a 'Finished Tree'.

Here is the same Mountain Maple Bonsai tree that is featured in the above video during winter. This tree looks fantastic when it has dropped all of it's leaves and the leaf colors during Autumn are also very beautiful. A true high quality deciduous tree will look great all year round with or without leaves. Winter time allows us to look at the structure of the tree and also appreciate the beauty of the structure that remains hidden during the growing months.
What we like about this tree is the subtle nebari just coming out of the soil. Most high quality trees seem to strive for as much root exposure as possible, but sometimes we feel less is more. Another nice touch to this tree is the moss layer which does well even in summer because the pot is mostly in shade due to leaf coverage on the tree. There is nothing that we don't like about this bonsai tree and we could not imagine it being planted in any other pot than the one it is in. Walsall ceramics really do make very good bonsai pots. |
