Azalea Bonsai Tree
This Azalea Bonsai tree is for sale at the time of writing and was imported from Japan and hand picked. The trunk is really interesting and something a little different from traditional bonsai tree shapes. This is a very mature tree and very compact in design. This tree has been placed in quite a deep pot to ensure that the roots stay moist, and we chose this pot specifically for this tree. We think it works well.
We water this tree every day during the growing season and position it in a sunny place with shade during the hottest part of the day. The tree is very healthy and has just been re-potted. We will not look to repot this tree for another few years.
It is important to feed Azalea bonsai with an ericaceous fertilizer to keep it in full health. Azalea bonsai should be protected from frost, and when they are in flower try to protect them from heavy rain to prolong the flowering time. It is best to water your Azalea with rain water and make sure that the roots never dry out.
The Azalea can be styled in almost any bonsai style except for the broom style. Most species of the Rhododendron family make for good bonsai trees, although the small leaved and small flowered varieties are the most popular.
Azalea Bonsai are traditionally planted in unglazed brown pots so that the eye can be drawn to the flowers during summer and not to the pot.
As a bonsai seller and collector we always like to have at least one Azalea in our collection. Just as Deshojo Acer Bonsai tree will steal the show in spring time with it's fire red leaf display, an Azalea will steal the show when in flower. We have a special showing table where the tree of most interest during the specific time of year will be shown. In spring we always place the Deshojo Acer bonsai tree on our show table first, and the Azalea will go on when it starts to flower through to the end of it's flowering cycle. During Autumn we have a selection of Acer Bonsai trees that we will place on our show table as they start to show off their beautiful autumn colors. We position our show table close to the house so that we can admire the beauty of the trees in all weathers. During winter if it is not raining we will place a pine tree onto out show table and then put it under cover if it starts to rain or snow (white pines do not like to have waterlogged soil especially during the winter months).
We hope you enjoyed the video
Kind regards
